Lita Cabellut was first influenced by the 17th Century Spanish and Dutch Baroque masterpieces that she saw at Madrid’s Prado  Museum. Cabellut studied and gained a formal knowledge of painting and art history, and at the young age of 16, held her first solo exhibition in Barcelona. Two years later she moved to the Netherlands to seek new challenges. Cabellut is a contemporary, informal-figurative artist who creates over-sized portraits of ordinary people who interact with her daily life. Using  a mixed-media fresco technique and a highly personalized muted pallet, she gives life and soul to these faces. Cabellut’s use of painterly light is luminescent, reminiscent of the masters, and draws one into her paintings viewing it through her eyes, and into the eyes of the subject.
