Scene with Dog and Cats
Materials:
Oil on canvas
Size Notes:
Canvas; Frame: 53" x 44"
Markings:
Signed LL
Condition:
This piece has a medium mouth of dust build up. This piece has a faint crackle through out the painting that is stable, with slight visible gaps to the cracks in the lower left quadrant. This piece appears to have had extensive restoration, that can only be detected by the naked eye in grazing light. it was remounted on a back lining. Under black light there is a heavy varnish masking to the restoration, and has been used for stabilizing cracks. There are three areas where there is visible overpainting under black light (3" diameter sections) . Two sections are within the curve of the basket handle, and there is another about 6" above the basket handle, these areas appear to the have a patch o the surface. to the naked eye in grazing light the edges appears to have paint loss and overpainting where the frame rubbed the surface. The white of the animals fluoresce bright white under black light, unclear if these have over pairing to accentuate the highlights
