Condition:

The panel is uncradled, flat, and stable. The paint surface is clean, with a slightly discoloured varnish. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals fine lines of cosmetic retouching in the sky above the mountain range centre, as well as scattered in the boy's arm, face, and chest. There is more concentrated retouching along the upper right and right margins, but otherwise there is very little intervention. The painting is in overall very good condition.
