The canvas is either unlined or very thinly lined and stable on its stretcher. The image reads well but the varnish may have darkened slightly. Earlier restoration and retouching visible to the naked eye in the following areas: lower chest and collar around dress. Under UV inspection, the varnish appears milky but an earlier campaign of restoration is visible in small strokes in the lower and upper right side of the canvas. Painting can be cleaned and re-varnished but can be hung in its present state. Offered in an elaborately carved giltwood frame with name plate reading "N. Lancret."
