Fairly extensive discoloured retouching is visible through the sky and along the upper margin. Inspection under ultraviolet light is impeded by the thick and cloudy varnish but confirms the aforementioned retouching and further reveals extensive strengthenings throughout the architectural features and background landscape. Despite these the painting (although it appears dirty) still reads well. The lot is sold in the condition it is in at the time of sale.
